A laser area scanner sensor can be used to replace a conventional area sensor. 
A conventional area sensor consists of a transmitter and a receiver as separate units. 
There are some installation sites where there is no mounting space for both transmitter and receiver. 
Laser area scanner can well be the alternative to replace the area sensor yet serve the same function as the area sensor.
