OPTIMUS CONTROL provides all the majors core control components for AGV and LGV. 

AGV, Automated Guided Vehicle (Self-driving vehicle) is a conductorless machinery used in various production or service sectors to move products (finished or semi-finished products) or equipment. It differs from an autonomous vehicle in that it does not dynamically calculate the routes to follow, but has programmed routes from which it cannot depart. 
 
It is easy to understand that AGV is a generic term used to indicate any type of vehicle capable of moving automatically within an environment, regardless of the method used for navigation.
 
LGV, or Laser Guided Vehicle , is nothing more than an AGV that uses the laser guide to locate itself thanks to the triangulation and therefore move within an environment. It is therefore a more specific name to refer to a certain type of self-driving vehicle. Laser guidance is arguably the most versatile and reliable method of all possible guidance systems for an automated guided vehicle system.


Below are the components that are widely used in the AGV & LGV industry:
 
1 Obstacle Detection Sensors / Safety Scanners
This sensor is designed to detect the obstacle by laser or infra-red reflection while the AGV is moving around. It prevents collision and increase the safety level of the AGV or LGV.

2 Safety Egde / Safety Bumpers
Safety edges are pressure-sensitive sensors applied to ensure the safety of closing edges at potential crushing or shearing points which are prone to accidents. They may be installed in the case of automatic gates, machines and other facilities for handling equipment or moving stage elements in order to protect individuals from bodily harm or machinery from damage. Safety Edge/Edge Controller Safety sensors to detect contacts by mounting to moving parts of hazards.

3 RFID Sensors
Optimum line tracking is combined with RFID tags which are stuck to the factory floor at key points along the lines. The tags at the turnout points indicate to the AGV, whether it is to continue driving or stop. The AGV does not itself make decisions. The intelligence is in the networking of the AGV with the higher-level IMS (integrated manufacturing system), which instructs the AGV to move to a specified point.

4 Magnetic Guidance Sensor
Magnetic Guide Sensor or Magnetic Navigation Sensor is capable of detecting and reporting the position of a magnetic field along its horizontal axis. Our sensor is intended for applications in Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs), using inexpensive adhesive magnetic tape to form a guide on the floor.

5 Magnetic Address Sensor
Address marks are installed at junction of station beside Guide tape route. Address mark has binary 8 bit codes and 2 timing bits. Address mark reader detects the code of address mark and outputs parallel data. The code is held till next Address mark comes.

6 Safety Relays and Programmable Controllers
Hardwired safety systems configured with safety relays are ideally suited to controlling individual safety functions, however, when building a complete safety system comprising of multiple safety functions, the use of a programmable safety controller, offers a flexible alternative to hard-wired systems.

7 Magnetic Tape
Magnetic strips, which are affixed to the operating floor surface to define the vehicle’s operating path, communicate with two to three magnetic-field sensors positioned in the undercarriage of the vehicle. These sensors in turn direct the vehicle’s steering mechanism.

8 Multi Tone Buzzers
Multi tone sounders are used to alert the operators for different occassions. 
Emergency Stop Switches
Machines must be fitted with one or more emergency stop devices to enable danger to be averted (EN ISO 13850). The most common form is a manual pushbutton assembly, which an operator strikes in an emergency, or by a rope pull switches, which provides the Emergency Stop function along the whole rope span.

10 Signal Indicator Lights
The indicator lamps shows the currenct status of the AGV.

11 3D Lidar
3D LiDAR sensors (3D laser scanners as well) detect their environment nearly gap-free, regardless of whether the objects move or not. That is why 3D LiDAR sensors are ideally suited for tasks such as collision protection on automated vehicles or the scanning of objects.

12 2D Lidar
2D LiDAR sensors (2D laser scanners as well) are suitable for performing detection and ranging tasks on surfaces. Regardless of the angle of installation, 2D LiDAR sensors operate with consistent reliability and accuracy, and can be used both indoors and outdoors. For navigation, detection, or measurement: 2D LiDAR sensors supply reliable measurement data for a whole host of tasks.
